The new robotics is pretty neat.  Just one problem: any new robot has "animal" as its occupation.

Edit:  Also, it seems the last object selected to build the robot isn't added.

Ah, I know what happened there. It is added, it's just that the build points display isn't updated to show it. That's what I get for trying to do things the easy way.

Is anyone else having an issue with the right mouse button no longer working in .535?

I can't summon the main menu anymore.

Oops... Well, at least I know what happened here, as well. I'm reorganizing the input routines and forgot to move over the right mouse button. I'll get that fixed.

Wait, wait... can I build SF:1 and SF:2 robots then?

No, because all the defined body forms are SF:0. I suppose you could define a SF:1 or SF:2 robot, but the system isn't designed for that and you'd end up building it out of SF:0 parts.

I found another bug- Lancemates will rapidly level in skills that they don't even know. On the plus side this means that your one lancemate will quickly learn every skill there is. On the minus side, once they've learned most of the skills rapid leveling isn't so rapid anymore. I know that some of you are going to really appreciate this bug, so enjoy it until the next release.

To the contrary, I find super-powerful lancemates incredibly depressing. I spend a week pimping my character so they have pretty decent skills, about 8 or 9 as my lowest, and I'm all pleased with myself.

Then a lancemate comes along, wouldn't you know they've got 15 in every single skill?

Give me a weak lancemate any day of the week, let's the hero look good. :)

Has anyone managed to create a sentient robot yet?  I'm at Robotics skill 11 and even with the required material points it seems like I never get the option.

In fact, I did a few tests (specifically, modified the databook to give more Computer Points, raised my level to 12, and even added a modified Ball robot with CHA 2) and I still can't seem to make a sentient robot.

Just hacked up a save file with rediculous scores (200 KN, robotics) -- it apparently gives you a specific choice to make a sentient bot (HUMANOID (SENTIENT)) when you've got the required skills. There's a comment on the blog that gives the specific stats you'll need to be able to do it, I think.

Data visors seem to be (one of) the better (non-mod) computer items to use right now, though it still takes five of them to meet the required 18 computer. Bright side, they cover the power requirement at the same time.

So it's definately possible, heh.

Yes, I got it working too.  However, it seems to require 13 in robotics instead of 11.

Just noticed verbal attacks bring you to a stop. Since auto-taunt doesn't, I figure that's, well, not entirely an intentional thing... plus it can be bloody dangerous at times. Maybe talking shouldn't stop movement while in combat?

Entourage?

You need a talent to have a second lancemate now?

...bang goes my "pack of lancemates" strategy. Not to mention, bang goes most of the usefulness of Camaraderie to me; the main use that I wanted to put it to was to expand the number of lancemates that could be hired, and thus (with a high enough leadership skill) increasing the maximum size of the lance (and using sheer force of numbers to defeat enemies).

If robots are still using lancemate slots, then this will put an end to the "Robot Master" strategy as well.

Other indications suggest that the "Jack of all Trades" strategy may soon become difficult as well. At this rate, it looks like none of my GH1 strategies are going to work in GH2 once it's done...

Good news and bad news about the robot master,

Good news: Your "pet" robots have no limit on quanity, best as I can tell!  You don't even need leadership for them!  Unleash the horde!

Bad news:  Max sentient lancemates is one, or two with camaraderie.  However, story-based lancemates (stupid fleshbags) don't fall under this cap, so better give the fleshies good meks, and your robotic mecha minion a junker.

Two questions:

One: What do I need to get Camaraderie?  It's not listed in the help file yet.

Two: If I put six robotic programs on the arm computer, will that add six to my current robotics skill when attempting to create a sentient robot?

So, if I have 7 in robotics, and a computer with six +1 robotics programs on it, can I create a sentient robot?

Also, data armbands and data necklaces can be used to create a sentient robot, with six providing enough computer and power, best as I can tell (haven't tested, it takes a while to get 13 robotics...)
