ASCII Woes

When playing the most recent version (0.531) in ASCII mode, there are a few problems I've run across.

1. When in Menu control, switching movement modes does not update the options in the menu. In fact, going into sub menus and going back doesn't update it either. This is most aggravating when your in a situation where there is only one legal movement mode (in space) and you switch to another one; there is no way to switch back to the legal movement mode, so you -have- to crash. And probably lose the battle your in.

2. The trainer for the rocket stars has a long speech about the three things most important to being a rocket star, but its cut off by the text box.

3. Not ASCII specific (I think) but the Mecha merchant in the Silver Sanctum says I'm not a member of Hoeller Industries, so she cant show me her full range of wares =/ =/

Addendum: In some personal scale areas (Arcade on Gaos in particular), my characters MP mysteriously begins draining away. Something particularly thoughtful about walking around?

1.  I'll agree to that, though you can "Wait" and then switch back when the screen updates.  That way you aren't crippled by the mistake.

Addendem:  That is your data visor kicking in and "helping" you detect hidden units.  As programs burn through MP so quickly, I never bother using them.  I have considered trying for Mecha Engineering and Robotics, but I never remember to buy the computer and install the software.

For that Addendum, perception spends MP when you're near something like a hidden door.  Even if it fails to reveal it you can use that as an indicator.  Maybe it could be that.

Only with a data visor.  The software is what is burning the MP.  Searching doesn't burn MP unless you use "S"

I swear I've seen it happen without any perception-enhancing software.  I'll check again.

Well I DID have a Data Visor on, so that was probably it. I didn't even know software used MP. I think I'll leave my dodge/acrobatic software in, but ditch the awareness stuff, def. Its draining me every time I walk across a room. Thanks Burz!

1. Menu mode isn't currently working. To restore it, I plan to gut both the menu mode procedure and the roguelike control procedure, turn both into simple input-collectors, then add a new input-processing procedure which will accept from both of them. This is going to be kind of an involved operation so I haven't started yet.

2. Oops. Fixed.

3. That'd be Dana of Comet Industries. Fixed.

4. Probably the Data Visor. I'm going to change the way software works, so this will not be a problem in the future.
