I need to fix Robotics soon

as long as I can still make a robot out of any non organic junk that I happen to have in my inventory I'm happy (seriously the glue bot is part of gearhead mythology or something like that)

You'll have it in an hour or two. The "target" was present on the city map the first time I left the CC, and regularly swapped between an Ovaknight, a Vadel, and a Z. Try as I might to kill him, and loot his stuff, I couldn't land enough hits.

The fact that he's in an Ovaknight and a Zerosaiko implies that he's a pretty high level arena pilot. Unfortunately, I just checked the arena pilot components and couldn't find any obvious problems.

A few more issues that I've noticed while playing:
- Software isn't particularly interesting or useful at the moment. I'm open to suggestions for how to improve things. I've thought about making software activatable- you activate the software, spend some ME, and get the bonus for a certain time period (five minutes?). While the bonus is in effect you count as having that skill even if you really don't. I could potentially add other activatable software types that would essentially act as spells in GH.

- Gaos Spinner was generated with some buildings completely inaccessable against the back end of the map. This ought to be impossible.

- The Rocket Arena cave map doesn't work well. I think I'm going to give it a predrawn map instead. Arenas should have indestructible, or at least constantly regenerating, terrain.

- Other than that, I quite like the arenas. The named fights work pretty well.

- The black markets need to be improved. Right now they're fine if you're a criminal, but absolutely useless otherwise. The weapon legality mix needs to be adjusted. Cone rifles should be more common than shotguns in this setting.

- Most of the good armor types never show up in shops.

- The NPC equipment generator needs to use location-consistent as well as faction-consistent items. I've never seen an NPC generated with sealed armor.

What about software that does something other than skill-bonuses, like the mech/robot/animal indexes?

Maybe some kind of one-use stat-training or skill-education software.
For mechs, maybe software that increases the efficiency of the engine/sensors/etc.
Maybe software that allows you to fit more parts onto a module (as in getting a 2-slot part into a 1-slot space) or ones which "unlock" abilities for certain skills.
Or even some GUI software that modifies the game GUI to include more information, such as one which displays speed and attack accuracy information for targetted mechs.

Ah, another bug:

My first successful use of the robotics skill resulted in a blank white space where the robot should be.

http://www.freewebs.com/trorbes/NoGraphicRobot.PNG

From the save file, it looks like it's trying to call the image MONSTER_Drone.bmp, instead of MONSTER_Drone.png.  Correcting this fixed the problem, although he has a human portrait (which I assume is normal).

Edit:  although since that, I've had two crashes: the last one had this error message pop up after:

An unhandled exception occured at $695C6AD0 :
EAccessViolation : Access Violation
 $695C6AD0

The first crash happened not long after building the robot, this one happened after beating two mechs in a combat.  I believe both resulted from hitting esc, although hitting esc doesn't always crash the game.

It probably wasn't the exact same error message right after starting the game; could you check your character's life history and tell me the last line there?

Oops. I'll get to work on that.

Odd. It's possible that both crashes were related to the robot. Were you using menu control in combat? That can crash sometimes.

No, I've generally avoided menu control.  I'm not sure what caused it, but I'm almost positive it relates to the robot.  I'll try to record what happened next time it crashes.

Edit: Crashed a few more times, one closing out of the Character info screen, the other closing out of the Field HQ.

Try a new campaign without the robot. It's quite possible that the robot has corrupted the data structures somehow.
