Eye Candy
« on: August 19, 2006, 02:02:07 AM »
I'm making some very nice eye candy right now, <Taking me about 900minutes in total for the basic, I'm already 10% through that. Total time invested will be in excess of 20 hours.> And was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to produce a mock-HUD or something.

This is general Eyecandy as it stands, I'm building it more for fun than anything. Why I need a HUD is simple - To make it look more beautiful.

HUD's like the Halo HUD, or something similar, if anyone has the time/energy to do so would be great. Or a full mecha HUD. Something neat, anyway.

I'm planning the full thing over a month, <And yes, I'll even be working on my birthday> and the reason why I need someone to design a Hud for me is not that I can't build them, I'm great at it. I just CAN'T design a weapon that suits. If someone could model one for me it would be appreciated, or build one.

So yeah, what I need is someone who can design a weapon - And have a view scale for it somewhat similar to SOF2 ect where it shows the weapon initially at a 15' angle and contains angles <in 2.5' increments> up to -.15'... That is, if anyone here can do that. I'm asking because I want this thing to look nice, and I can't finish it on my own.

Update - Total time has been raised to 80 hours. Goddamnit. Anyway, anyone willing to offer their support will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly what it is you're doing...

I have been working on some interface designs for GearHead that I could take some scans of, but not really a HUD.

Sounds like both...

From what I gather he wants something similar to the HUD of games like Armoured Core and Chrome Hounds, I would send something in but the best I can do is a concept sketch.

By the way, Use the edit button if your second post comes a few minutrs after the first :)

Bleh, there comes Anticheese with the sardonism. That is entirely my trademark, dude. .-.

And yes, both in essence. However, weaponry will more than likely need to be fully 3d modelled. I'm tempted just to use VCGU, email a few people and hack it from VC. .-. The weapons, that is.

A reference screenshot of Halo (looks like the second level, after the crash landing):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Halo.jpg

Top left is the ammo. The top left box is the spare ammo indicator, next to that is the number of grenades (two types, plasma being shown, can be switched). Under those is the number of rounds in the current clip, as a graphical indicator.

Top right is health and shield. Note that the health indicator changes colour according to how much health has been lost (red == danger).

The bottom left is a local radar system. Yellow blobs are friendly units, red are enemy.

The middle is the obviously the direction you intend to shoot in. The cursor is different for each weapon.

When you get hurt, there are edge indicators to show in which direction you took damage from: left and right, top represents above, bottom represents the back, and the screen just flashes red if you get hit from the front.

Me? I'm worthless with graphics. Good luck though.

....

I have Halo installed. I play it occasionally... I've got about 40 SC's of funnier things I've done in Halo, like climb to the top of Assault on the Control Room, in addition to finding stacked elites or coating Johnson in Plasma Grenades.

The mission is Halo, you're first on ground assault mission, and this is just before you reach the first butte. Or it could be the third covenant dropship. The latter makes more sense as the user in this SC only has 360 rounds in his rifle, and he is right beside it as it is lifting off. No mean feat for the first dropship, you need to be very fast to do that.

I still need a customised HUD, I've got some basic 'human' weaponry that I can now play around with, as well as some explosive and flame effects. All I need is a HUD to continue. I'm not doing any more work on it until I find one.
