I think you'll need some lancemates to /facepalm all those heads.
Could be funny if it were sentient though: multiple personality disorder! xD

No, just massive amounts of vision arc.

Anyone thought of putting a 360 degree arc of view in a FPS? I'd be willing to test it until my head exploded.

Two graphics card not running in CrossFire or SLI, each with dual output. 4 monitors. With that setup, I think I would be playing flight sim instead of FPS though.

Huh? Wow! Wow! *jaw drops*

I haven't heard about Tremulous until now... thanks for the mention! Now that I have a shiny new computer, I think I'll try it out, even though I'm not much of a FPS gamer. All the FPS I've bought are because of the theme (e.g. Star Wars Battlefront).

Strategy sci-fi? Faster than Battlefront, though. At times. Just read my blog for stuff on Tremulous. Fanfic and various stuff, as well as reviews and rants.

Curse you, Bill Gates and the marketing in Microsoft! You all shall burn in the fires of hell!

When XP Pro partitions a drive, it defaults to dynamic (which can do lots of fancy stuff, like a single partition sitting over two drives and stuff).

Now in Vista Home (both Basic and Premium), Dynamic is NOT supported! Now my data drive is locked away by Vista... I can plug it in via USB, but no drive letter will be assigned. The only move to do in Vista is to repartition it into Basic, which obviously will destroy all the data.

If I only have this computer, I'll be royally screwed. The only option is to find another computer, or go Business/Ultimate.

Luckily I do have a P3 dual-booting Linux and Win2K, which should be able to read the drive... still, that's a lot of effort just to get my data back, and there's absolutely no mention of this in anywhere obvious. You learn about it only after it hits you. Hard.

Omitting a feature like that for no good reason... <censored>

kcwong, that is, afaik, not entirely true.
Its windows; thus the data can always be recovered since it leaves a magnetic image on the harddrive.

If it were linux; well, bad luck, no chance of getting it back, ever.

linux can read ntfs partitions and the is plenty of recovery software based off linux

also linux with wine probably has better software support than vista

and linux has better hardware support (most hardware seems to work out of the box no need for driver cds)

vista probably does that to try to prevent people from dual booting (like i said many times before "VISTA IS EVIL AND ANY ONE WHO SAYS OTHER WISE WILL TASTE THE WRATH OF MY LINUX!!!!" (force lightning erupts from fingers emperor palpatine style)

whoa another blankout

how did i get here?

and why am i TYPING!?!

[rantON=pleaseignoreimventing]
Linux? Vista can taste the wrath of almost any other OS. I honestly prefer ol' 3.2 (or hell, frikkin' DOS prompt. Old ibms. Give me punch cards and I'd upgrade.) to this abomination. That being said, Vista's considerably more bearable once most of its utterly pointless and highly annoying bells and whistles get turned off.

But yeah, there's a lot of rediculously odd ommisions in Vista, even compared to bloody XP -- and you can trust a random fellow of little respectibility in this following statement: After using XP for a few years, I honestly didn't imagine it'd be possible for me to actually want to use that particular blasphemy of coding... but Vista proved me wrong. I'm not one to support capital punishment for ineptitude, but the sheer incompetant gall of who or whom ever was responsible for Vista being sold as it is now, seriously tests that urge against homocide.
[/rantOFF=blamesleepdeprevation]

EDIT: But what does that have to do with robot minions, eh? Am kinda' curious, though, anyone know if there's any progress (or confirmation of eventual plan) insofar as drone re-working-ness? I remember a lot fo really neat ideas spawned by some discussion or another a bit ago, and it'd kinda' fit in with the general thrust of thread's original meaning. Actually, this question would probably do better as its own thread. Eh. Too sleepy to do that righ' now. Queheehee.

For sentient robots, just pray. And have a good robotics. That's all you really need. Then you just need random luck and general crud.
