It does normally, but not in arena mode yet.

So, speaking of biotech mecha....any chance GH2 will ever have an alien faction show up?  I'm thinking Zentradi-style, but I'm wide open to anything.  I just like the Outside Threat as a plot device/excuse for high-powered combat/loot.  Robotech, Warhammer 40k, Battletech, Earthsiege, it's a pretty common staple.  Although I'm pretty tired of the 'warring factions band together to face the common foe'.  I'd rather things turn into a 10-way brawl.

ZOMG.  Someone could totally use Arena mode to make X-Gear-Com.  Not me, too much on plate already.  But I could totally see that.  It seems like it'd be easy to write in a 'research tree' of sorts in the form of reward flags like the shops/skill trainers.  And of course mission results can be fed into the same sort of story count variable to determine whether to move on to the next wave of aliens, or if attacks slow down.  Hmmm.

I could see that possibly being a rare plot ending or something.

Sort of, yes. The exorgs may or may not be aliens, and discovering their origin will be a major subquest.

*Does a happy dance*  It doesn't really matter if they're alien, or AI, or just a lost space-faring faction of humans.  It's all about the outsiders with a different technology base, and <strike>stealing their stuff</strike> fighting to hold onto what you believe in.

But major subquests are only fun once. There have to be big explosions to make it more fun. So, are there big explosions planned?

Big explosions are never planned. They happen because they must.

Lucky for us.
