Not particularly too sure where this would go...
« on: August 04, 2006, 05:17:33 AM »
I was playing a game using my thief and my partners are the bandit who I helped get loot for with the data cartridge and the princess who I saved.  The strange thing was that the princess out of the blue says she works for Kettel Industries.  Obviously this is strange as I thought she'd say she's a princess, unless before she joined me she was recruited by Elisha Kettel...

Weird. That shouldn't happen. I'll look into it.

Since this is a bug report, I think Support is the best forum for it. Just a minute while I unleash my awesome moderator powers.

Wow, That is odd! thats like world leaders admitting working for Microsoft...

So if the only difference between the princess in different games is the name, Does that mean that she has allways worked for K.I?

Suggestion: Perhaps the best thing to do is slip into the next patch having her say "I work for the prosperity/people of mars" or something along the lines of that? Royalty are at the top of the chain so it would make no sense for her to say "I work for the Martian Royalty"

Edit: Damn, JH moved it before I did :D

I've been thinking that the princess and maybe also the medic should be given perminant names/natures, since their respective stories are pretty much the same every time. I'm content to leave the mercenary with a random name since he doesn't have much of a story anyhow.

I've seen this in my own games, also with the princess.  I think the deal is that she goes around chatting to NPCs using her own (considerable) conversation skill, and reporting verbatim what they say-- so if she talks to a Guardian, or a member of Aegis Overlord, she'll occasionally seem to say that she is one herself, etc.

I've seen it, too.  Yes, that's what's happening.  I just laughed, since I didn't feel like fixing it right then.

Hmm. I'd only ever noticed her saying she was a member of the Solar Navy, which made sense since I had gotten up to Admiral in it.

Knowing the root of the problem makes this much easier to fix. Thanks.
