Right now, I've a self-reliant Vampire Priestess (actually High Priest) of Death magic in ZAngband 2.4. She's hanging around level 28 right now, as I very, very slowly advance to test her limits.
All her stats are maxed for purposes of biological improvement, now requiring additional magic equipment to further improve. All her mutations thus far have been invariably helpful. Her equipment seems universally resistant to acid, and probably several other things; in fact, it's hard to find an item on her person which isn't named.
I can't recall how many hundreds of vampire priestesses died before her, but none got this far. This without cheating at all. It's nice!

Basically, I play this character because you never run out of food, the experience handicap isn't too significant, and at Level 33 you can quickly work up the cash by Poison Branding to buy out the Black Markets. Which is, by the way, how I filled out her stats.

Eventually, she'll get caught with her pants down, her stats plummeting anywhere she isn't naturally resistant as some nasty monster wipes out her equipment by some bizarre means possibly involving significant mutation, and I'll be very, very sad.
Since I want her to be way too powerful, I'm taking it slow, not looking forward to such beasties.

Roguelike characters seem to be made to suffer. It's their lot in life.

When online, I go by the name Jafet. When offline, my name is... well, er, that's why I use a different online name from my real name.

I aim to write a roguelike someday. It will be as logical and convincing as nethack, where you can die by kicking a wall, and it will be as fun as gearhead, where actually losing the game takes patience, effort, and spoilers. Until then, I play roguelikes as part of my purely academic research into how roguelikes work.

I forgot you could die by kicking walls.

I always died by kicking doors with foes chasing me. Or they were trapped.

Usually, though, I didn't have too much of a problem with suicides (accidental, at least).

Hi!

I'm "Einhander" (hehe.. real name's Kevin!).  I'm turning 24 soon, and uhm.. I'm from Canada (Edmonton, Alberta to be specific!)!

Anyways, I've played gearhead on/off throughout the years and many (and I mean many) other various games throughout the years :P.  Right now I'm getting back into Gearhead2 and was wondering if anybody would like to see a sketch of my version of the Zerosaiko!

We always love new artwork. Ask JH, and maybe he'll even put it in GH2's loading screen collection. Nice to see a new member.

Guess I'll post the link in this thread since I doubt my artwork is worthy of a thread on its own.

Hey guys, names MadLucied, and I have just gotten interested into the Roguelike games genre. I like giant robots even more, which is the reason why this game caught my interest the most.

Currently, I am 21 years old, majoring in Networking and Security in college, and working for my local school system in their IT department as a contractor.

Anyways, I HOPE to play GH2 soon since I can't figure out how to get 1 working, so I check this game out! It seems completely awesome and the sooner I get it going, the better!

Name: Snakebit STI
Snakebit, short for snake-bitten (it's far less common than "snake")
STI as in the Subaru

Haven't really played GH, but I can't wait for v1.x of GH2.

Superpowers include thread necromancy, apparently...

I'm Amneiger, and I just noticed this thread.

I first started playing Gearhead a couple of years ago because I was tired of fantasy games and wanted something science fiction.  Gearhead turned out to be quite awesome.

No superpowers, apparently.

Hello. Ivan from Russia. Martial arts, programming, bull-hitting people (advanced martial arts).

Fan of anything related to stuff big and robotic. Current relevant occupation - creating a game in fasa battletech rules that 1) retains the feel of that style and fiction 2) does explain issues with sensory ranges and other issues that allow mechas to fight relatively close, not over the horizon 3) has some innovations taken here and there, once again, retaining the feel of battletech and not quake in japanese fullplate.

Here I'm taking break from my own efforts. Most of the time can play gh 1 text mode due to mobile pc g card issues. Of anime stuff I've seen, can compare this game to robotech (you don't laugh) and full metal panic. Btw bear suit would rock the place. I also like deep large worlds of games like old ironseed and newer elder scrolls arena/daggerfall. So while here, will keep advising on stuff that keeps character life balanced within feel of anime and increase variety of the game.

My superpowers are ability to knock anyone's brains out of coherence with Uber Chat and ability to use knives.

Lastly to once say here - I've been to places described from opposing sides by USA and RF medias and I say that USA media lies 10 times more, say it here once so when wherever on forum anything political arises I wouldn't have to flame it over there.

Bottom line - HELLO FOLKS!

Just noticed this thread, too. I'm Benjamin (aka, Xpace) from the United States. I enjoy RPGs of all sorts (fantasy & sci-fi, rogue-likes & real-time), space simulators, and strategy. Was pleasantly surprised to find such an advanced mecha rogue-like with cool graphics and in-depth play! I think it really rivals commercial products in the fun factor.

Other interests include anime, machinima, techno/trance/electronica/ambient music, fantasy & sci-fi, paranormal, metaphysics, & geomancy. Superpowers include: Thinking outside the box, unbounded imagination and creativity, and not getting things done on time.

Yes, the media here in the States has much lies and half-truths. (Such seems to be the nature of politics. Which, btw, has a Latin derivation: Poly+Ticks= Many bloodsucking creatures. :D )

And I'd like to think that more Americans are aware of this these days. (I'm disappointed by ignorance time and again, however.) Though, I was under the assumption that the media in other nations was misleading, too.

P.S.: I also like diversity and as much immersion and choices as possible in a game. :D

Now, now folks. Calm down. Lying, deception, and stupidity are pretty much universal constants in politics. Study your history! Some historiography would help, too.

Hello. Godwind Dora, a.k.a Kamikaze Dora hails from Cambodia.
I was originally born in South Korea and I moved to Cambodia 5 years ago.

My real name is Choi Jae-Young, which is somewhat awkward to pronounce except for Koreans, so everyone just call me Jay.
I am 19 years old, and I like all sort of roguelike games. in fact, I like any game that draws my interest. I have no talent of making games but I like modding, and I'm currently trying to make some new spinners, factions, mechs etc.

I have been studying English for about 3 years from a very nice English who I met in Cambodia and thanks to his enormous efforts(I love you Nathan!) I'm writing about myself in this forum.

Still my English is not perfect, so if I make any mistake please excuse.
