Hi, I'm Max, and I'm a mech-aholic.
Wait, wrong forum.  Sorry. =)

Anyway, I'm 30, living in South Carolina and desperately wishing I could get back to the great North West.  Major hobby interests include:
Orcs, Spelljammer, Steampunk, Mecha, powered bicycles and quadracycles, and several others.   As far as Gearhead goes, the last thing I was working on before my computer gave up the ghost and I lost my harddrive was a total adv Spelljammer rework for GH I (Mostly areofighter style ships, some ancient demi-human war Iron Dragon/Iron Knight magical mecha).  The biggest drawback to this attempt was the complete lack of boarding actions, but I had a cunning plan to create a boarding action command by switching to scale 0 team combat. Given the space setting for GH II, I'm tempted to restart that project, especially since if I start at this stage in development I'm in a better position to learn the code and change the actual skill names and such.  I've been meaning to learn C++ and Python for a while now to work on my own games, but I'm afraid that most of the time my patience and intelligence reach their limit at modding other peoples.

And, to be honest, I only came in here because I was looking for info on how to set the avatar icons, and if the Monstrous or Gobuksan were available.

Greetings. My typical aliases are Keiseth and The Mimic, the latter of which being more of a philosophical title then a name; so Keiseth The Mimic, perhaps! My name is Patrick, I'm male and I'm from somewhere on the east-coast of the united states. I'm currently eighteen years-old. Why no specific location? I've moved like, five times in five years! My interests include plenty, but favorites might be Music, Gaming, Technology, studying anything interesting, from some of the more obscured religions to the process of creating steel, books and literature... I've got interests in learning to program something from scratch in any language I can sink my teeth into fully, to learning how to play a musical instrument decently.

My super-powers include but are not limited to: The ability to toggle excessive arrogance or sarcasm, the ability to hear voices and tell them when to stop bickering, to plan out world domination on a daily basis and almost suicidal levels of self-confidence. I can also glare at water harshly enough to boil it! Lastly, I can find something interesting in the most boring things. I think it means I'm mentally unstable; but if I'm mentally unstable, I don't want to be lion taming!

I originally signed up because I can't (still can't!) manage to compile this correctly on Ubuntu Linux 6.10, so I'm playing it on XP. Doesn't help that I'm new to linux.

Summary: My name is Patrick, I'm 18 years old and male. I'm a danger to myself and others. Keep lighters away from me. Especially the cool torch-like ones that go "Fwooooosh" when you use them. I like those.

Greetings all, as I have been hanging around a bit lately, I just I should introduce myself.  My name is Mike Curran, and I am an engineer at a mid-sized manufacturing firm in Boston, Massachusetts.

My interests include gaming, programming, science fiction (both golden era and post-cyberpunk) and anime.  In my spare time, I tend to watch my daughter while my wife attempts to stave off insanity (a 2 month old is as sanity-draining as any entity dreamed up by Lovecraft).

My superpowers include the ability to grok any programming language with only a day or so worth of study.

Don't expect any personal information, beyond that my e-mail adress is erathonielwoodenbow@yahoo.com. I like heavy metal (Disciple), heavy 'mechs, games that are modifiable, games that have in-game in-universe modification (mecha modification on the fly), Anime (lightly), and Science Fiction.

Greetings, fellow sapient beings!  I'm PotatoEngineer (occasionally Tyken in some places), and I hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, but I'm in Vancouver, Canada at the moment working on a grad degree.  I swear I'm gonna do a Roguelike someday, but that day has not yet come.  I like old games, strategy games, mecha, and cats.  I play pen & paper RPGs whenever I can find a group, in whatever system is handy.

My superpower is to find freeway exits and entrances.

And I'm male, 27, and engaged to be married in February 2008!

Hello, my name is Shymrok i'm from Poland, 19 years old, currently student. In past i was an Amiga user and even played Joseph first game, Realm of Sendai what was really lovely and meany others like Ishar, Black Crypt. Then on PC i played games like Fallout and Arcanum, and this my favorite cRPG. Currently i'm disappointed with new pseudo cRPG games (example, the so hyped Oblivion) i start look for something advanced and... here i am. I played in past some Roguelike: NetHack, ADOM and others i don't remember. Now i have addict to GearHead...

Hello!

I'm kcwong. It's the Romanization of my Chinese name. I'm  30 years old by the end of May. I am from Hongkong. My job title is Solution Analyst, and for most of the time I design and code electronic security related softwares.

My biggest hobbies are boardgames (like Settlers of Catan) and computer games (RPG, Adventure, Simulation, Turn-based Strategy, puzzle, occasionally fighting and action games).

I started playing NetHack two years ago (haven't ascended yet), and while reading discussions about it, I found Dwarf Fortress. I got hooked, and then while reading discussions about it, I found Incursion. I got intrigued, but Incursion is not too playable at its current state. So while reading discussions about Incursion, I found GearHead, which got me hooked again. ;)

You can't go wrong with Incursion.

It does have great potential... but the balance is not very good yet, I kept dying no matter what (and if I savescum, I die again really soon).

4 months, or till year 2011... I think I'll still be around to experience a more polished Incursion. ;)

I don't like to cheat... when I first started playing NetHack, I savescumed a lot.

But then I found myself killing over 100 characters on just my first day. I found my skill wasn't improving at all.

So I stopped savescumming, and now I can consistently reach the Castle level with any character. I had a wizard, valkyrie, barbarian and tourist in Gehennom right now, I'm pausing those games so I can further improve my skills before trying an ascension.

I savescum GearHead a lot at first, because I felt it was more like a computer RPG than roguelike... but now that I know about it is adjusting based on my performance, and I have that much chance of surviving a lost battle, I stopped reloading too. I just set aside enough money to buy a Buru Buru in case I lost my mecha, and I keep a backup mecha when I can afford it (i.e. captured a decent one and without a lancemate to pilot it).

As long as I can have fun, and can improve my gaming skills, it's okay to lose... decades of boardgaming and NetHack taught me this. And what's DF's motto? "Losing is Fun!" ;)
