N00b Needs Help!
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:56:25 AM »
Hi. I'm Unbeliever. I just joined. I'm new to GH, and during the tutorial in GH1 where that shop guy gives you your first mecha I accidentally ejected and can't get back in. No matter where I go, no website tells me the controls! Can someone list a complete control list? Please?

Press h for help then select the first option... named 'View game keys'
IIRC the mecha is lost... you can get another free one in a couple of places... or better start a new game.

Welcome to Gearhead! Sorry to hear that your first game went a bit pear shaped but it's all a part of the learning curve.

If you want to continue this game and have some Mecha based skills, you can get a replacement Mecha from the arena.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to post again.

Welcome to the forum!  Gearhead is a pretty deep game with lots of stuff to learn.

A little hint: Go to the doc folder and look at the config.txt.  It will give you some options to adjust the game a bit.  The most important one would be to disable autosave, since it'll autosave after entering every town and accomplishing or failing every mission.  IMO autosave is a major pain especially in the beginning if you are unsure of what you are doing.   To manually save, press shift-x.

Another piece of advice:  The world is vast!  There is a lot of ways you can recover should you make a mistake or other.  All you have to do is look around for opportunities.

Too true.

Another thing that you will enjoy is that modifying the game is a very simple thing to do. Feel the need for a new 42.5 tonne death machine on the market? You can do that in two minutes!

Not only that, but through use of the Mecha Engineering skill (and some parts) you can customize your Mecha in game as well.

Enjoy the game!

P.S - Don't hand feed the bioweapons.

Could be..But I thought he was asking for some help RE fighting monsters. I'd much rather say "Sure, what's the problem?" and have no reply as opposed to saying "Yeah yeah, topic closed" and risk doing the wrong thing.

So Unbeliever, What's it going to be?

No, I was asking what I do once I've hand-fed the bioweapons.

And I still need to know.

HEEEAAAAALLP!

Find a replacement hand.

Really, I can't help you unless you say something specific. Such as:

"Okay, so I've become Arena Champion everywhere, become a famous musician and faced countless bandits. But I've lost direction and I need to know where to go now!"

Or

"This game is too freaking hard. I need to know some survival tips"

Unbeliever meant what he should do if he hand-feeds the bioweapons.

Riight..

Well of course it's a joke. It's like "Please don't hand feed the crocodile."

No, you cannot feed the bioweapons. Please wait for the next patch that includes hand-feeding of the bioweapons and permanent limb loss.

Oh darn, would that mean that my character would have to walk around without a head? (You are ambushed while trying to enter kist. Militia attacks you with a Battle Axe. You are hit for 11 damage. Head Destroyed! You died! Fortunatly you were rescued and brought to a nearby hospital.) >_>

Ok, so we're not allowed to feed hands to the crocidiles/bioweapons, how about feet? :p
