Do you make your own equipment and mecha design files?
« on: August 01, 2006, 09:02:20 PM »
Yeah, that's the question. I know I'm not the only one to do it, I was just wondering if anyone else was in the habit of doing so. Personally, I've added some personal-scale guns (Where's the grenade launcher?) and cyberware, and a LOT of mecha (for variety). Lots of fun mecha, too, I put together a dual-turret tank, and I'm working on a 6-armed design where every set of arms is a different scale factor. I was just curious if anyone else had any cool ideas.

I've added a lot of stuff too. Guns, some weird martial arts weapons, armor, lots of cyberware, and about fifty mecha, although I don't leave all of them in play all the time. But you can never have too many strange Zoanoids in a game.

Oh, an a personal scale <DRONE> grenade, which works oddly well. It's too cheap, though.

Now I've just got to figure out how to get the plots to do what I want....

I usually add Scale 1 mecha, because there's a serious lack of them.

Quoted for truth. I'd love to see an "Amateur Duelists Club" for SF:1 combatants, which the PC could only enter with a SF:1 mech of their own.

Much agreed! I've never added any mecha successfully, nor put in my own equipment; I was just curious what y'all had to say. But HAI! We need an SF:1 duelists arena!
Things drive me crazy, but man, it would give me a chance to really put together that Super Vespa I created.

Super Vespa, eh? Is that anything like the Kardian-A in the Yahoo group files?

The farthest I've gone was to go through PCEquipment text and fix spelling/grammatical errors, and reorganize things. For instance, I fixed it so that internal ammo has the same description as the ammo you purchase. I started doing the same for mecha, but got lost because I couldn't figure out how things worked.

Yes, the small mecha are exceedingly rare.

Not familiar with it. It's actually just an upgraded Vespa, equipped with a few really fascinating SL:0 weapons, but the Vespa is actually an interesting little mech when pitted against SL:0 opponents.
Come to think of it, I'll have to start scavenging Fire Control systems and popping them in Vespas.

Why don't you guys upload the customized files as "mods" or "patches"? I know the changes I would make if I knew anything about Pascal; but seeing other people's ideas is always a different experience. Besides, JH could make use of all the suggestions and include MORE mecha... MORE weapons... MORE cyberware... erm... excuse me :)

or JH could make a like on the GH page to player submitted mods?

Oh BTW the GH1 page needs a pointer to the GH2 page, the only way to get accross is to view the mecha files.

I have a big mecha pack in the Yahoo! Groups file directory. It even has a Class 9 mech. Please, don't mind a few spelling errors here and there. I want to learn how to work on plots or stuff, but there's no decent tutorial...

Your link 404's/Document Not Found'd, but I remember reading it... IMO it wasn;'t very helpful. Sorry to whoever wrote it, but I was completely lost with it.
