My Summer Vacation
« on: July 29, 2006, 08:27:14 AM »
I will be away from the internet from later today until Monday or Tuesday. We have a five day weekend and are planning to go somewhere in Korea.

Unfortunately we don't know where yet. I don't personally consider that a big problem- my vacation plans usually just revolve around looking for interesting food. This weekend I want to visit a Subway or a Burger King, since we don't have either in Ulsan, or maybe find some Mexican or Indian food. Or dakkalbi. And if we're going to a big city like Pusan or Seoul I want to find an international grocery store where I can buy tortilla bread and calamansi juice.

Eunsuk, on the other hand, would like for our vacation to involve something other than just walking from one food source to the next. Unfortunately, we're limited by time and money and she nixed my idea of going to Fukuoka to live as buskers in the train station. We were looking at going to Daejon, but it's supposed to rain there most of the weekend. Maybe we'll just go to Pusan and explore some part of the city we've never visited before.

Have a good weekend.

We're back from the vacation. We had lots of things planned for Daejeon, but on the way from the hotel to the subway station I twisted my ankle while walking down a flight of stairs. There was no reason for me to have twisted my ankle, other than just that I'm related to my mother- she's so clumsy I once saw her accidentally slam her own neck in a car door while trying to get in. Anyhow, we tried to visit the national science museum, but I spent the entire time sitting at a bench near the entrance while Eunsuk went around looking at everything.

That said, it still wasn't a bad vacation. I ate a lot. Eunsuk found an old Japanese RPG that she had been looking for. I got accosted by a crazy man in the bathroom. On balance, it was pretty interesting.
