Lose a lot. Seriously, that's about the only way to gain or lose renown.

Pretty much. Buy a ton of really cheap Mecha (I.E Vespas), get into a battle situation (even the Arena) and just Eject.

Hell..I did not know that you had a Reknown value of 70! That makes everything SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT.

No wonder why you're having trouble :-%

Anyway, for a quick piloting boost, buy a Mecha Piloting Interface and install it. +3 to Mecha Piloting.

Also get the feat that gives you a piloting bonus in Air, land or whathaveyou.

Well in theory, if i managed to do enough missions to get that much renown, i should have gained enough cash and exp to meet whatever challenges that renown level gives me right?

Yeah, you should.

Most deadly challenges come in the form of enemy Mecha so be sure to modify yours.

Have you invested an excessive amount of XP into skills that will only be used on a few occasions? (I.E Investigation, Cake Mixing, Survival) while eschewing Mecha based skills?

Nope, the thing is i started with really high mecha based skills, i had gunnery 5 and piloting 5 from the start, then i gained gunnery 6 after my first few thousand XP, then i realised it was better to up my important skills to level 6 first then have the "real life XP" level it up to 7(because it takes 800 xp as opposed to like 500 for level 5-6). Thats when i leveled up piloting to 6.

The only skill i dont use at all is mecha fighting, artillery and the one for attacking with mecha melee weapons, and thats because those 3 were the ones that i got from combat piloting. I wanted a job that is a mecha pilot/mechanic mix with starting +s of gunnery, piloting, repair and engineering, but no such luck :P.

Ive got some other stuff i rarely use, like small arms, but sometimes i do get personal scale missions.

Ive only just broken the 10k barrier for my 2nd talent and i have 80+ renown and am being asked to attack 4-5 million PV oints of mecha. My XP just isnt scaling at the same rate as my renown is o.O. My zerosaiko only has some modified stuff, like some armor without thrusters(lower weight, i never use thrusters anyway), a beam shield that replaced one of the standard shields(still not sure if this was a good idea), weapons, a class 10 sensor and a class 7 targetting comp. MV -2 TR +0 S +6. Not sure whether i should try tinkering with modifying components(or how).

Nice.

Anyway, no one can teach you how to properly tinker. Just fiddle around with your machine until you find the combination that works right for you.

How did you make this far with important sklls at level 6 or 7 is a mystery to me, with a reflex of 22 your effective skills should be around 14, 15. If you have been killed then your renown should have dropped severely. Also, mech fighting is used by shields.

I never got the XP to increase them to 14/15. It took me 80+ renown to get to 10k xp. Until recently i didnt have any problems shooting down enemy mechs.....its only when i hit the 80+ renown barrier then i get stuff like zerosaikos with very high piloting pilots that evade every damn thing i shoot at them, even with a +3 accuracy mod weapon.

He means that with your reflex level being at 22 your skills will act like 14 or 15.

Entertaining the concept for a moment... If you defeated a Buru Buru with your bare hands, or in a Vespa, you'll get a buttload of XP. Or so I hear. (Really, why bother?) By the same stretch, if you go after every mission in a Monstrous equipped with a full nuclear arsenal, you'll get remarkably little. Either way, your renown goes up by the same amount.
If you rely on very, very effective and expensive equipment, your renown can get away from you very quickly. This is seldom as much of a problem for characters what use melee weapons exclusively; their weapons are often less expensive. It's all some kind of relationship to the PV of your equipment, including the PV of your mech.

That might be part of your problem. I hear you're using a Breaker Cannon; I find these absurdly effective, and they sell rather well in my experience.
