As title. I went to the warehouse district, but the hotel doors were all locked and i didnt have any weapons capable of blowing them open, so i had to leave to buy one. Now i cant go back....the hotdog seller told me about the warehouse district, but now she wont give me the option to go there anymore, and neither will anyone else. What do i do?

Damn..Sorry but I think that was your only shot.

I just got the quest right now, 3/4 doors were locked but the fourth one brought up a dialoge box.

"Who are you? No entry!"

"I'm delivering a pizza!"

Strange.....that definately needs to be changed. I had all 4 doors locked......it seems really strange that quests can actually go to a dead end if you dont have a weapon capable of blowing apart doors.

Carrying an additional high DC weapon for just that purpose really kills my weight.......

Hm..I think the mission is bugged. I killed the kidnappers, interacted with the girl and the quest did not get any further than that.

If you want to open locked doors with style, invest XP in Code Breaking and Concentration. at 50 XP per door it's quite a decent skill to have.

That bug existed in previous versions, but should be repaired in the latest release- now I'm sure that you've got some older files mixed into your series directory.

Eh, it's not as if I haven't done similar things myself... the latest version of GH2 with mesh support almost got shipped without the actual mesh files. ^^;

Ouch :)

So the morale of the story is to delete old installations before the new ones enter service.

This is where a version control system would be very handy.

You remember the one that you were asking for the thumbs up from Peter Cordes (what happened to the guy anyway?) and ended up being put in the backburner?

Not only would it avoid embarassing stuffups like my one, but it would mean that people who download Gearhead II and dismiss it as an incomplete poopbucket might fire it up a year down the track and be blown away by what it has (or will) become.

I may not be a coder but a VCS gets the thumbs up from me.

Oh, and you will be setting a world record for the first Roguelike with an autoupdater.

still show 1.002 at start, with bugged kidnap quest.

Oops. I never remember to change the version number in the program...

As for the kidnapping quest, did you restart the campaign? The version featured in your save game will be the one installed when you started the campaign. Did you install on top of the previous release? If so, the old buggy files may still be in your series directory since the quest underwent a name change at one point for some reason. If it's still there, then I definitely did something wrong along the way...

Unlikely, last time I started playing again was in october, but I may have mess around a bit.

Anyway, I just downloaded the 1.010 binaries again and created a new charcter. So far I haven't run into the quest yet. But I saw that TS_GSP_URB_Kidnapped_PLOT2_default.txt is using STC Victim-1, I think this is calling for trouble, as people can use medicine skills to remove the victim from the scene prematurely.

But the medicine tag is redefined to go to the regular use, so it won't use the default medicine tag. You're right though that it probably is asking for trouble, just in case some new scripts get attached to the default prop.

I am not sure I know what this means. I am still poking at things I don't quite understand. Here's the line in the aforementioned file, extracted from 1.010, modified in 2006/09/02.

Why not just make a new prop?

I've done the quest. The first time I finished successfully. But it says there's some ASL error in start <if= V1 0 else GoCheckTime QuickTime 10800  V= 1 ComTime V+ 1 86400 Print 1 ForceChat E3>

I then reload from a backup, at the moment I enter the scene. This time I can't finish the quest.  I simply tend to the victim but stay at the scene. (also I can still use medicine to remove the victim).  I am guessing that it has something to do with the save and start problem mentioned earlier today.  I am also guessing that the bug has been fixed but the fix hasn't been released....

Uh-oh... that's different from the version I have over here. Seems that I haven't uploaded the fixed version of the quest yet... remember how I said earlier that I do dumb things? This is one of those...

Sorry about that. I'll upload a new release of GH1 as soon as the laptop gets back. If anyone wants, I can put the corrected version of the kidnapping plot in the dev group files area right away.
