With player owned Bases and Battleships (and subsequently Mecha bays) I could see equipment set swappers being a neat feature.

Well, you can already switch your legs for a set of wheels if your Mecha Engineering skill is high enough.

My only problem with changing my mecha to fit a certain battle is that we pretty much never know what to expect, and can't really expect to. I generally design my mecha with either all-purpose combat in mind, or design it to be very, very good at a specific aspect of combat and try my best to avoid situations I'm not set up for.

Yes, you can indeed get a battdroid, chop of its legs and mount wheels on it. But what I'm trying to get across is having the Mecha Bay automatically switch components around (by components I mean armour, subcoms, mounted weapons and movement systems) without you having to manually do it.

It's like having presets.

True dat.

But you might get sick of driving a walking tank and wish to swap the equipment for something a little more quick, or something like that.

You can't know exactly what you're going to fight, but the factions in GH2 will probably give you a better idea of what kind of mecha you're going to face. Also, you will know what kind of terrain you'll be fighting in.
