Hmm, I've looked around the Wiki, and found a *LOT* one sentence pages... (like the stat pages) -- is there going to be more content in them? Because if not, then they are utterly pointless -- it's better to create a "list" page with the descriptions beside them, for such small pages force you to do a lot useless clicking and waiting (not to mention bandwidth and database size issues ^_^).

People may add more content in the future (for instance, code snippets). It's just that, to start out with, I only copied the information directly from the Guide.

Yeah, but currently it's very unwieldy to read :-|

It's better to start with everything as a list page, then split into new pages when there's enough content to do so. That seems to be the way Wikipedia handles things, and they've got a lot of experience with this wiki business.

Remember that other pages will be linking to the individual information. There's lots of stats, so the entire page will have to be loaded every time someone clicks on, say, 'Mental Points'.

What we could do is compromise and have it both ways--one page with all the information (it will be a very long, long page), and each individual page for when people click on a keyword.

If you're concerned about that, it's quite possible to link to anchors within pages. The whole page loads, but then the page automatically scrolls down to the relevant section.

Some of the skills, like Robotics, could certainly benefit from having their own page. Others, like Athletics, probably wouldn't. How's this for an idea: Start with the list pages, add redirects for most entries that would link to the anchor on the list page, then if there's enough material replace the redirects with a page about the thing being linked to.

Is there a way to show just a subsection of a page, like when you're previewing a section that you've edited? (I don't mean just linking to it using '#' links.)

[EDIT] Also, how do you add more categories (such as MV, TR and SE) to the mecha 'About' table?

I've started a topic in the appropriate forum specifically to expound on the construction of mecha. While the intent is an article about building from scratch, it will hopefully prove illuminating on many broad points of system mechanics regarding mecha design, and is intended to be pared down into a Wiki article.

[edit] Is is appropriate to make Wiki pages which are more opinion than authority, such as the one intended here? Or will that have to remain a Forum post?

I'd say it depends. Guides and hints are usually going to be more opinion than authority, while mechanics, spoilers, and background info are going to be more authority than opinion.

If you have something you'd like to add to the wiki but you're not sure about it, the forum is the best place to ask.
