A few minutes ago I was experimenting with a few music visualization plugins for Winamp (woah..trippy), and I found this one that began life as a 20x20 grid and morphed in colour and shape to suit what was playing.
Then it hit me.
Begin with a massive grid, wrap it around a sphere and plug in your iPod.
The music provides the shape and temperature (the latter being done by the overall "tone" of the music) and from there features are added like grass and water.
I know it sounds crazy, but it sounds like a really cool idea to me.
