My first run on a while
« on: November 19, 2006, 09:47:18 PM »
Just had a game after a while, it was nice :P

After some domestic work at the hospital the doctor gave me a truck to deliver some things on snake lake, went there, met some people, got back to hyoge and accidentally entered the arena with my truck. I won once but the second time it was destroyed. Got the trainie mek from Vikki and used it a bit... failed on the factory to get a good deal for Hyoge, fighted on the mines til death on level 5.

I was surprised to find Elisha Kettel was pretty accesible.... she didnt have a bodyguard or anything, a must for such an important person I think... I would have shot her down but I like the way Kettel does things so... I spared her life.

Destroyed an Aegis base generator, but my trainee mecha was destroyed while trying to defend the city generator (bah, it is just a groundhugger... huh! WTF! :P)... so I am left without a mecha and just about 40.000$... guess my game is over :P

Nice game ;)

Is your character skilled in personal scale combat?  If so, then you could simply go on bounty hunting and sewer clearing missions until you get enough to buy a new mecha.  Based on your story, you should still be able to find at least one other mecha for free.

hey slash, didn't know you played this game.  On afterthought, I wouldn't be surprised if roguelike devs play other roguelikes.  btw, thanks for making crl.  fun game, but a tad bit hard to play for me on gfx mode due to some bugs and probably b/c I am playing an older version...  ascii version works pretty well but i haven't made it farther than maybe one or two levels beyond the moat because mermen seem to like to knock me into the water...

I guess you mean the Hyoge mines one? yes... I guess I will go for it (that is, if I have time to resume the game ;) )

Yeah, I play it from time to time... I think it is often overlooked as it is a very well done piece of software ;)

Well, current version (1.24) is pretty stable on the gfx mode, as for the mermen, better dispatch them from far away ;)

Also, 1.25 is currently on playtesting (we need more playtesters by the way), it should come by this weekend.

There's actually a couple other free mecha spread throughout the game.  One's gotten through the early quest in Snake Lake (if you lack a usable mecha at the time), and the the other's found buried inside one of the towns.

There's also a random quest that pops up from time to time where you can get a free Buru Buru from one of the mecha shops (even if you already have a mecha).

And the best mecha in the game can't be purchased, but rather must be wrested from the hands of your enemies. Either in mecha-on-mecha combat, or if you're just that good, there's a few unused ones buried deep beneath the surface. Including one that requires you to go all over the map to find its components!

Guess there is a big world to explore... for now I have never gotten far from the first 3 cities.

I call that the "snack run mission". :) I think you can get a Domino (or some other arachnoid mecha) from Hwang-Sa Temple too.
