Art from Ladi
« on: November 16, 2006, 10:42:38 AM »
Ladi's going to be leaving for Basic Training tomorrow.  She'll be gone for about six months.  I'll let you guys know when exactly she's ready again to contribute artwork.

In the meantime......

She's given me some art to post that she's been working on recently.  She was a bit disappointed that she wasn't able to ink them (our computer fan still hasn't arrived yet), but she's still satisfied with them.  The first two are uniform designs (along with an emblem) for Aegis Overlord Luna.  The last one is a drawing of Vikki.

There's some more art that she created, but they're unfortunately stuck on our computer.  I'll post those once that fan comes in.

Fantastic! I feel like I've recieved an early Christmas present. :)

I'll be using the Aegis uniform and insignia as the canon versions in the upcoming comic and credit Ladi for designing them, if you don't mind. Once again, incredible work.

I would like to collaborate with Ladi on a comic book someday, but once she gets finished with school I probably won't be able to afford her rates. ^^;

Wish her the best for her training.

d00d! Awesome!
I swear, if she ever draws a webcomic or gets drafted as an artist for an anime, I'll be one of the consumers. This is really excellent stuff. I'm especially fond of her insignia for AOL, and am really glad they're making it into the game.

However, it was the picture of Vikki that sealed my opinion. That looks frickin' awesome. If only I knew what show it was reminding me of.

I really like the suggestion that AOL (snicker) uniforms are cyan. Cyan on black, maybe? Specifically, cyan with black and silver trim.

Also, her Vikki reminds me of Knuckles the Echinda for absoultuely no good reason at all, and now it's all I'm gonna be able to think about when Vikki pops up in-game. It's not a structure thing of anything, it's just... the connection is THERE. I think it's some of the facial expressions. I'm weird. Kbye.

I'm not seein' Knuckles in that. Not at all, nor does my fiancee. However, we all have different interpretations. :)
...however, it does nubulously remind each of us of some character, despite its clear and wondrous originality. We just can't figure out who!

I've been experimenting with converting the images into vector format using InkScape. The results aren't bad, but would be better with an inked-in image versus pencil lines only.

Thanks for the responses; I'll make sure to pass them on to Ladi for all of you.

I don't think Ladi will mind having her designs used in the comic.  The art she had me post was made specifically for the Gearhead community.

Thanks. If she doesn't want me to use the designs, there's plenty of time to let me know before I start on the GearHead comic. Voles of the Dusk is going to run for about another 2-3 weeks.

Once again, great work. By the time Ladi sets up her own website she'll already have a fan club waiting.
