What class of mecha are these?
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:03:34 AM »

Top half Battroid, bottom half Groundhugger? How would this be expressed as a Gearhead mecha? A legless battroid? Or a wheeled "storage" unit or two for the tank-base?

It's a crab, so I immediately think arachnoid, but are those claws "arms" (which automatically make it a battroid), or should they be expressed as legs?

Last one, can a snake mecha even function in GH? Or would it need wheels/tracks in a tail in order to move?

Don't be shy, I can see you lurking, thoughts?

For those curious, the images are from Robot Commando, my favourite gamebook from the Fighting Fantasy line in my youth, featuring giant robots and dinosaurs. Yes, it's as awesome as it sounds.

I would use a legless battroid with wheeled storage units. IIRC, in Gearhead, any mecha type that can have turrets, can't have arms.

I would make it a battroid. If you look at: http://gearheadrpg.com/wiki/index.php?title=List_of_GearHead_2_Mecha_by_Point_Value on the wiki, you'll see that the top three mecha are multi-leg battroids.

It would have a head, torso, tail, and as many storage pods as you think would be reasonable. You would also need to add some kind of propulsion system (wheels, hoverjets, etc.), or it isn't going anywhere.
