Sad GearHead Moments

(1/3) > >>

Epsilon:
Other games have Yet Another Stupid Death... since you don't actually seem to do a whole lot of dying in GearHead, I figure we could all share our particulary sad or embarassing moments.

I just had one in particular... I was doing the Robot Warrior arena fight, in the finals. I counted at least 7 mecha, including a Nova Storm (no biggie), Chimentero (eh), Ovaknight (oh dear), a Vadel (more eh), and then three mecha I added myself. I won't go into details, but let's just say they were all worth 4 million or so a piece and they HURT. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but the first shot fired managed to rock through my class 5 body armor and blow a nice, gaping hole in the gyroscope of my lightened, customized Chimentero.  Only took a few more rounds of fire to wreck it. Argh! Now I have to try to do a bunch of sewer-cleaning missions, try to get some funding for a mecha as good as - or better - than my old one. Rrr.

Share your stories and lament for your fellow posters.

SharkD:
I agree. The difficulty level is a tad bit low.

Anticheese:
You know the "Kill your archnemesis" missions?

Well I was fighting him on a farm of somesort and would you believe a bunch of Vespas & Strongarms came around the corner and crippled the head of my Mecha.

Lo and behold the Archnemesis in an IceWind came around and finished me off within 3 turns.

Ouch.

Epsilon:
Anticheese, that reminds me or a rather depressing story in which a Strongarm critical'd my Radcliffe, loaded with expensive salvaged gear, for 12,000 damage. I kid you not, 5-digit damage.

Needless to say I didn't get that mecha back.

Tung Nguyen:
The best ones are the plots involving a confrontation with your archnemesis. Take three steps in any direction and watch yourself get sniped for five digit damage.

Don't put too much value into your first mecha.
