Myriad files for myriad things.
« on: September 02, 2011, 12:04:18 PM »
Tested these and I'm pretty sure they're working as intended. Still have quite a few more I'm still working on testing for.

\gh2\series\wmon_people.txt

Fixes a minor bug where Assassin Lord's Headhunter pistol has no ammo. Admittedly I have no idea why this bug occurred, and I'm not going into a thousand theles arena fights to make sure, but this fixed it in a design file so it should work here.

\gh2\design\pc_mayka.txt

Mayka mecha series.
Primarily this file contains kit-form skeletons of mecha, size 1, 2, 3 and 5 battroids.
Each size has six variants - a standard model, a model with a high output engine, a model with a head mounted cockpit, a model with a high performance engine, a model with a high performance engine and head mounted cockpit (and a lightened frame for maximum handling), and a model with the lightened frame with a standard cockpit. Each is made to look like a particular type of battroid rather than just being a generic Buru Buru appearance. Since they're kits they won't show up anywhere except parts stores and mechanics'.

Each Mayka mech includes a single head, body, two arms, two legs and a set of sensors. The size 2 version includes two wings as well.

Also included in the file are a series of mecha computers coming in at 50%, 33% and 25% mass, for people who would prefer not to buy a whole Luna for their mecha requirements.

If people are interested in it I can expand the Mayka brand to include more sizes and types of mecha, just lemme know.

\gh2\design\icarus.txt

The Icarus is a mid-range series of X-Form battroid/hoverfighters used primarily by Spinner defence forces like the Silver Knights, Rishiri Space Force, Free Commerce States or the Privateers intended to help fight the growing pirate threat. There are five versions ranging from 550-900k PV, each capable of transforming from a standard battroid into a four winged hoverfighter for close air-support.

Yes, I do "squee" and make the transformers sound whenever I change forms.

\gh2\design\pc_cru.txt

A currently-in-testing file, it's mostly done, but a few of the items might not be showing up as they should be.

Includes among other things:

  • Jet Boots
  • Hands Free Guns
  • Special "Harness" Items
  • Zero Trauma Medical Cyberware
  • Non-combat skill Cyberware
  • The "Tanksuit", massively heavy powered armour you will probably never wear.
  • A Flamethrower
  • The Glitter Cannon
  • Police Force Excluse weapons
  • Other faction specific stuff

Requires \gh2\gamedata\caliber_default.txt for flamethrower ammunition types.

Coming up pending testing/fixing:

A secondary Neko loadout focusing on missile support rather than a particle cannon.
An enhanced armour/arsenal Phoenix loadout.
The Nova, the big daddy of the Shard used by the Aegis Overlord.
The Crucifix, an agile eight limbed sports battroid designed for recreational mountain climbing on Mars rather than mecha warfare, a good starter mecha if you plan on doing a lot of walking.
The "Clown" theme for custom mecha, for the easygoing media personality. Technically already implemented, but damned if I can get a clown to show up to make sure it's working right.

If you have a favourite/common mecha you face that you'd like to see with different loadouts for a little variety, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Likewise, any feedback on these would be appreciated, whether it's on thematic or balance issues.

Finally got it to show correctly, now you'll feel the fury of my Mad Carnival Ice Wind!

\gh2\series\theme_11_to_20.txt

The Clown Custom focuses on the inane and the theatrical, whether it's blowing you to smithereens with a barrage of explosive ballons or striking you down with a well-placed rubber chicken, rest assured the pilot is probably laughing about it.

Having seen it in action, I can now confirm that the above correction makes Assassin Lords behave appropriately with their Headhunter pistols, aka killing me horribly with their armour piercing goodness.

Also having tested them out, the Neko MCI-73 is a missile heavy Neko variant that shows up alongside the Neko. It's a bit slower, and it trades off the ever-loved Heavy Particle Cannon for a mech rifle to keep costs down, meaning a harder hitting early combat and a weaker finish.

gh2\design\neko.txt

Likewise, the Command Phoenix is showing up alongside its weaker counterpart successfully. It's a bit better armed, a bit sturdier, and armed with a shield to hopefully make it a bit of a more dangerous opponent than the freebie-mech standard Phoenix.

Updated wmon_people.txt, it now fixes regular assassins as well, meaning both enemies should start sniping you and generally murderifying you from much further away than before. There aren't any other changes at this time.

\gh2\design\dragonfly.txt

The Dragonfly is a demi class racing ornithoid from Earth. Armed with only with a single light machine gun and jaws (which also double as a docking clamp), it is less suited to combat than it is running away. A great mecha if you're planning on drag racing though, and the oversized dragonfly wings have plenty of space for adding equipment. Since it's only $75k it's a great option for when you've just lost your last mech and need a replacement, or for training your mecha piloting skill.

\gh2\design\war cry.txt

The War Cry 17, an elite War Cry specifically designed for the Rishiri Space Force by Hoeller industries, asides from a second rack of missiles, the War Cry forfeits its Beam Bayonet for a shield-mounted blade to free up space for an intercept laser, whilst its propulsion systems have been slightly optimised. It's still a low-end mecha perfect for grunts, and it still keeps the Railgun beloved by one and all.

pc_cru.txt now includes the specialist equipment of the Rocket Stars:

The Starsword - A fabulously stylish weapon for a more civilised age.
And the G-Suit, a powered suit full of advanced cerebonics.

My personal favourite, however, is the Waldo Harness set, designed for dock workers, the heavy actuators are ideal for weaklings who need to use two hands to hold a laser pistol, or strongmen who want a little help to let them dual wield machine guns.

\gh2\design\tartarus.txt

Note - Currently untested due to its PV, if someone manages to, I'm most interested in how it works out in practice.

The Tartarus is an enormous interior mecha, upper half humanoid, lower half tank. Where other large mecha are dedicated to widespread destruction, nuclear devastation and the like, the Tartarus is built around dealing as much damage to the target as possible whilst still causing a bare minimum of collateral damage.

As it has no legs and no flight systems, the slow-moving Tartarus is normally only used in a defensive capacity in spinner interiors, typically in the hands of the various Spinner governmental defence forces, though the occasional duellist has "found" a mecha and made use of them in the arena to great effect.

\gh2\design\guardian.txt

Note - Scale 1 Mecha, Experimental.

The Guardian is, to all extents and purposes, an X-Form mobile turret designed for interior defence. Upon arriving on the scene and situating itself in a strategically sound position, the miniature war machine then transforms into turret mode, becoming all but immobile, and proceeds to open fire on aggressors with its anti-air laser turret, weathering the damage with its hardened armour and cockpit.

Unfortunately whilst the mecha itself is hard to take out, sheer concussion damage fighting larger targets has a tendency to kill the pilot inside, Guardian pilots tend to be brave, stupid, and short-lived, though the skilled ones are capable of causing most impressive damage, especially if the attacker is occupied fighting other, more ostentatious defenders such as the Tartarus.

Probably the last two from me unless anyone has any requests, the Nova is an experimental mecha that I've never actually managed to get to appear (mainly since it's a high PV, Space-Only Aegis mecha, and I've been playing Stars recently with no AESF shop access).

\gh2\design\nova.txt

Functionally the Nova is a slow moving hoverfighter armed with a lethally powerful core cannon and covered in ablative storage units, each containing battery cells to allow it to fire as many times as possible (around ten times from a full battery) before being destroyed.

\gh2\design\crucifix.txt

On the other end of the scale, the Crucifix is a small eight-limbed head-cockpit battroid primarily designed for civilian use. It's a bit of a lightweight, but it's pretty agile and suprisingly good in space combat, and its quadrupedal stance makes it an easy 0 MV whilst walking.

Meanwhile the Arena version of the Crucifix fields a reflex system and adds some much needed skim to the model.

And that's it about it. Out of all of them, my personal favourites are the Icarus series, but any feedback on any of them I'd be interested to hear.

Hi,

Thanks for the mods. Just recently came across the GH games by freak chance and am quite liking them.

One problem, though-- it could well be that I'm just installing it incorrectly, but the game crashes on startup if I try to include the PC_CRU with the modified CALIBER file. It says:

An unhandled exception occurred at $0042FCCA:
EAccessViolation : Access violation
  $0042FCCA
  $0042FDB9

Thus far I've only just dipped my toes into the modding-side of things, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I did incorrectly. As long as I have the PC_CRU file in the /designs folder and the CALIBER file replacing the old one in /gamedata, it crashes like this.

Thanks for your work in making these mods!

Sounds like your problem is actually write protection - if either file is currently open or locked by another program then it'll crash GH when it tries and fails to read it. If neither file is open though I'm afraid I can't say, but that's the reason I have for causing myself the error at least.

And hey, no problem! Let me know what you think, everyone's a bit quiet here so it's nice to get feedback from people who use it.

Tried fiddling around with things. Not sure why, but I managed to get it to load fine just by deleting the first two items in PC_CRU (the deluxe survival bar and the pep pill x5). My untrained eye doesn't see any errors in the code, though-- was just taking out bits and pieces and seeing what worked.

Thanks for looking into it, at any rate.

Ah hah! Sounds like I've forgotten to include the affiliated STC file, since both those access the same file. I'll try and upload it to host-a for you this evening when I get out of work, this will hopefully solve the problem and let you use the first two items appropriately.

As it is, feel free to let me know what you think of the other items in the interim.

Yeah, the problem's with the Pep pills, thanks for letting me know Pro.

\gh2\series\Download stc_items.txt

This will satisfy PC_CRU's drug requirement.
