Oh well.

I certainly respect the decision. Although, I do have to wonder why increasing the crew of a mecha from one to
two would require mecha so large that it would require a whole new scale.
As I was trying to explain, in real life we have tanks, planes, trucks and other vehicles with armor and weapons which can easily fit more than one person. And many of these vehicles would be considered Scale 1 or at least a very small Scale 2. (To be fair, though, the extra armored cockpit with armor, monitors, controls and life support would take up
some room.)
Pilots AND gunners? This is Gundam, not Dominion: Tank Police.
Funny you should mention Tank Police: As I recall, both Leona and Al can (barely) fit inside "Bonaparte", the miniature tank they use. But it's smaller even than a compact car. (It would be either a
small Scale 1 or a
very large Scale 0.) And, apparently, the highly cramped quarters doesn't stop them from pulling off some impossible driving and shooting stunts. (Oh, and I see someone
made the Bonaparte tank out of Legos.

)
Anyway, I was just using the Monstrous as an example. Gundam aside, there are some mecha-themed anime, tabletop games, and electronic games which feature some mecha units with a crew of more than one. Even Robotech/Macross had at least one: the VF-1D dual-seat Valkyrie variant.
Spaceships: I can certainly understand why player-owned spaceships won't be added, esp. if it requires a scale larger than Scale 2 gears. It would drastically change the game. And, really, there's no point. However, considering the setting, I do hope a few more Aerofighters get added that are designed exclusively for space travel.
