Can't get Gearhead 1 to run
Acurious:
Hey there. New to the series. As said in the title, when I try to run Gearhead Arena, it doesn't run. Instead, I get the following prompt
'''An unhandled exception occurred at $10020D2A:
EAccessViolation: Access Violation
$10020D2A
$00468A5D
$00401038''
And then another similar one directly after, with more of the $_______. I am running it on Windows 7, so could that be the issue? If so, is there any way to fix this? Thank you for your time.
Daemonward:
I'm running Ubuntu, but if I try to run the windows executable in Wine I get a similar error, so the problem may not be specific to Windows 7. If you're willing to give it a try, the wiki has some pretty straightforward instructions on how to compile GearHead that can be found here:

Thank you, though I'm unable to find the Gearhead Image archive, as both the source and the Image archive links give me the same thing, unless if it's only necessary to have this one file and the guide is a bit out of date or something. Also, when I type fpc arena -dSDLMODE, I get the ''fpc is not a recognized internal or external command'' prompt. I apologize for my ineptitude.

The links both go to the GearHead files directory on Sourceforge. Click on the gearhead directory to open it, then the 1.100 directory, and it should show you all of the available files. The ones you want are called "gh-1100-src.zip" and "gh-1100-sdlimage.zip". Extract them both in the same place. If done correctly you should now have an "Image" directory in your GearHead directory.

No problem. Have you installed the Free Pascal Compiler? I haven't ever compiled GearHead on Windows, so I'm not sure whether it can be done on the command-line or not. If the command-line instructions don't work, it should still be possible to compile GearHead in Windows using the Free Pascal IDE (instructions for this are in the last section of the Compiling GH wiki article).
Acurious:
Oh man. Simply slipping the images folder into the directory allows me to play me to play the game. Thank you for your help, however.
