I'm starting to see a significant uptick in spam pages on the wiki. I have it under control for now, but it is continuing to get worse.

Maybe put it in read only mode until someone wants to upgrade the filters?

Anyway, this is what happens when you host your site on "a friend of a friend's" web server. Someone in the chain loses interest and you're screwed.
