Lots of time to work on GearHead
« on: October 25, 2006, 02:32:19 PM »
This week, finally, we got a third foreign teacher and are finally back to being fully staffed. The new teacher is also from Newfoundland; actually she's the daughter of my sixth grade teacher.

All of my overtime hours have disappeared instantly and it's a bit shocking to have so many breaks. I've done a lot of work on GearHead-2 this week. Computers have been added, and I've started work on something really big that I want to keep a secret until the next release, which will hopefully be this weekend.

I've done some work on logos for the various factions. I'll post my ideas when I can. For the Aegis insignia, I started with an abstract shape meant to look like a shield... I ended up with something that resembles a highly stylized vulva. Not good. I may appeal to my father, a retired graphic designer, for help and ideas.

The Big Ass Minicomic is now available for sale... but for some reason, the webstore seems to think that I'm from North Korea... have to talk to the editor about that.

On Friday we have a halloween party at the school. I'll continue my annual tradition of buying corrugated cardboard and making a robot costume. I think this year I'll go with "Moo Jumbo" from the "Panda Z" cartoon. I had an idea for how to do a really nice Gundam mask in cardboard, but I don't think I'll have time tomorrow for anything fancy. Usually I make corrugated cardboard masks, costumes, and props for our school presentations. It's a great, quick way to build things as long as you don't mind everything looking like it was made out of corrugated cardboard.

That's all for now.

Congrats on having free time!  BTW, is the big surprise the reinstallation of the atomic war club?  Just kidding...

That sounds so awesome for you! Mind you, less overtime means less pay, right?
Edit: Then again, you've now also become a professional writer. Theoretically, you're fine.

Ouch.

An Aegis can either be a shield made out of the skin of a divine goat with a medusa's head in the middle, or a class of Gundam - Depending on which one you go with.

I reckon a shield would suit the Aegis government..

Let's just not try to change the name of the game to Smeghead Arena II ;)

Hope the free time works out for you!

We had the Halloween party today. I was in the face painting room; students came in and I painted something on them. Hopefully we won't get an angry phone call from anyone's mother. Anyhow, here are pictures of my Moo Jumbo costume:

\"Moo

\"Attacked

And also, a video from YouTube, for anyone wanting to know where it came from:

Remarkable. Hilarious. And... well, I hope you don't mind my saying, but with context, tres strange.

I might have to watch more of that.

Update on the next release: The secret new feature's taking a bit more time than I thought, but is coming along very nicely. Expect it out later this week, or this weekend.
