Overload Weapons

I have never, ever had one of these change the status of an enemy. It always seems like my mecha, using one, overloads just as fast as my target. Has anyone had more success with an <OVERLOAD> weapon?

Have you had luck using missiles packing this attribute?

Hmm. I hadn't tried this. I can't think of any mecha that have <OVERLOAD> missiles, but I'll hack a Petrach and play around a bit. Thanks!

Yeah, where are the overload missiles? Must know, must know. (I'm really getting into missile setups. They're far more effectual in GearHead than in Starsiege.)

That said, yeah, I've left enemies completely incapable of striking me, succeeding pilotting rolls, or really much anything else merely by hitting them repeatedly with various overload weapons. Used to be a favorite strategy of mine in one-on-one combat.

I must lack patience. I got better at overloading my enemies, but it still took long enough that I'd rather just pound them to little pieces.

An interesting point. In my experience, while there are other, perhaps better, guns, particle beam weapons serve their purpose with their range and anti-air capabilities; if you're moving fast or have a high initiative, they're just one more gun, which is also good. (If you're neither, best invest in other guns.)
I'd sure like overload missiles.

In GearHead-2, I've found that a trailblazer plus good Mecha Gunnery and Electronic Warfare is nigh-untouchable in the early game. Of course one solid hit from a major NPC in a Wraith and you're toast...
