GearHead2 v0.625, Here there be dragons
« on: April 26, 2010, 03:12:48 AM »
I've just uploaded GH2 v0.625 to SourceForge. I'm expecting lots of deadends and bugs with this one since there have been so many new things added. Also, it's been a while since the last release, and you guys always seem to shake loose the bugs I couldn't find while testing. Here's the list of major changes:

Coherent Units: The team generator will attempt to create a nicely styled unit with troopers, support, and command. Also, it should be faster than before because all mecha are pre-loaded at start.

Personadex: A new feature of the Network Phone. The personadex allows you to view all characters the PC knows- enemies, friends, and anyone marked with an attitude. Not many NPCs have been given biographies yet, but you can at least access some information and find out where all your lancemates are hiding. It's also useful for diagnosing when an NPC's character development has halted.

Monsters Dodge Better: Like it says on the tin. Upper level monsters have had their Dodge skill increased.

Lancemate Improvements: You now use the lancemate Awareness skill on outside maps, and several of the join/quit bugs have been fixed. The clue skill bug hasn't been fixed yet; sorry.

Everyone is Faster: Unless you've put a lot of points into Initiative, in which case you're probably slower. The effect of the skill has been toned down.

New Variants: Several new variant mecha have been added in order to round out the army lists.

Try it out, and let me know what you think.

Haven't had much of a chance to play yet, but I noticed when I extracted it, I ended up with a couple of odd blank spaces in the design folder.  Probably just something about where I extracted it or some such, but I will pretend that they're super-secret mecha as yet unready to be unveiled.

What do you mean blank spaces? You mean, empty places in the folder where there should be files but aren't? I have no idea what would even cause that.

Spooky...

Yup here's a screenshot of just the empty spaces and the files immediately around them:

probably just a weird result of the program I used to extract or something similar.
