Didn't find anything like this when searching the forums...so here goes:
How are higher class armors for mecha better than lower class ones? (e.g. Class 9 as opposed to Class 4) I mean, besides the amount of DP the higher one has. I'm not sure if I should have a heavier Class 5 armor or the lighter Class 4 one...
Nothing too urgent, but thanks in advance.

Generally speaking it's best to grab the best armour that you can, Not only do they provide some great damage reduction but they also can be used to install things on.

I think the only diff between ACs is the size/weight factor, if it you can get a better DP with a lower AC then go for it because you will remain lighter and dodge more. I don't think the weight has any affect on what you can install on that bit of armor.

I would like to see the various armors and materials given names someday. The likes of Maranium, or perhaps Silksteel. I guess I am one of those guys who likes to label things, just because it gives more 'feeling' to an setting.

I think flavour elements add a lot to a game, especially one like GH, so you're not alone.
But these sorts of things take time. All in due time, I suppose.

So armor actually reduces damage? Hmm...I thought it was just something to absorb some of the hits instead of the installed part. On the installation point, I'm not too concerned about that...except sticking on more arc thrusters or hover jets.

About that, whether or not you can install more on a heavier piece of armor, maybe it has to do with the complexity thingy, but I haven't really experimented with it.

That would be pretty cool, because modern day titanium has one of the best mass-to-durability ratios, and so could be a pretty good armor for both people concerned with maneuverability and protection...so...yeah.

In a sense, after the DP on it hits 0 it becomes innefective though.

I'm pretty sure its just flat rate (2 CPX per armour piece) across the board, It's just that more durable armour has more time to enjoy the benifits of installed items

What is odd, is that unlike other games from what I have seen here, no-one mentions the miss-chance that lower AC's give. I though that is, after all, their main purpose, rather than damage rolls, although they're fucking cool too.
