All right, after a couple of delays (including have to redo the episode because I ran it off the SVN instead of the release) the first episode has been sent to Erathoniel. Expect a post mortem of character creation and episode 1 tomorrow. Please CC me on the episode saves at
Burzmali@yahoo.com if you could!
Edit to include information and maintain the correct sequence of updates.
Episode 1:
Drake, John Drake, Freelance Intelligence Specialist, or unemployed spy as my father says. That's right, thirty years old and living with my father, the priest. I could be living the life on Emerald or be neck deep in intrigue on Rishiri, if only I'd known that she was his daughter. Well, c'est la vie, at least the rent's cheap.
I've recently been forced to re-evaluate my life and closely examine my strengths and weaknesses. I'm okay in a fight, I'm not going to be knocking skulls with my fists, but I'm handy enough with a pistol and I can usually stay out of the line of fire. I've been practicing with my Galah a bit too, and I'm getting to be a decent shot. However, my real skills lie in the social arts. I can talk my way out of anything, if I can't I can bluff my way out, if that doesn't work I can sneak away and if I get caught I can pick the lock on my cell. On top of that, I've been blessed with looks that bewitch men and women alike. But looks along can't get me work.
Eager to get back in the game, I hit up some of my old contacts at the Cavalier Club for work. Fortunately, Netpy needed someone to retrieve a datachip someone had stolen from her. After spending the last of my saving to get properly outfitted, I slipped into a shady bar and pumped the denizen for information. One drunkard revealed that a lowlife by the name of Amsur Mapus bragged about swipping the chip and another chimed in that the information dealer Ajruce might know where Mapus was hanging out.
Ajruce knew alright, but he wasn't to reveal the location for cheap. Since I was a bit strapped for cash, I used Ajruce's own bravado against him, and maneuvered him into a duel for the information. His skills in his custom pirate Buru Buru were laughable and he quickly yielded and transmitted the coordinates of Mapus's hideout.
Approaching Mapus's hideout, I was attacked by one of his goons in a Buru Buru. He proved more skillful than Ajruce, but he soon found discretion to be the better part of valor and ejected. Amsur Mapus resisted handing over the Datachip at first, as he had stolen it for Igrausug, but my verbal skills, and Mecha sized laser rifle pointed at his head convinced him to hand it over.
Netpy was grateful for receiving the chip back and I found that it was good to be helping my fellow citizens again, though I was concerned that this Igrausug might have bigger plans in motion. I went home to get some sleep and think the situation over. Netpy mentioned that the folks on Marquise Spinner might need some help, so at least it looks like I'm going to keep busy.
