GearHead2 v0.613
« on: October 28, 2009, 02:19:30 AM »
I've just uploaded GH2 v0.613 to SourceForge. The new lancemate stuff is in, making Clund Rock your hometown is still broken, and I probably forgot some things.

You start out with the ability to take on one lancemate; you can gain up to two more slots by completing quests in your hometown. If you attempt to add a new lancemate while your party is full (say, by hiring a mercenary) then you'll have the option to drop a character currently in the party.

The core story partner can be removed like any normal lancemate, but for the time being I'd advise against doing so. At the very least go get them when you're about to start a new episode.

The foundations have been laid for lancemate character development, but at the moment there's nothing but a level-of-experience sorter.

Try it out and let me know what you think.

What happens when you drop them? Can you find/hire them again later?

Adding more non-player character interaction/banter sounds cool.

Yes. Normally they'll stay in the same location where you add the new lancemate, unless it's a dangerous scene (dungeon, combat, etc) in which case they'll automatically go to a safe area. If they do so, they'll tell you where they're going.

Recieved an error message after fighting the L5 Law forces that tried to arrest me for illegal dueling (nice development on an old standby, by the way):

ERROR: Local macro &ALLYFAC not found.
ERROR: Local macro &ALLYFAC not found.
WARNING: Script value ADDNATT
CONTEXT: NAG_Experience NAS_FacXP 1
ERROR: Unknown ASL command NAG_EXPERIENCE
CONTEXT: NAS_FacXP 1
ERROR: Unknown ASL command NAS_FACXP
CONTEXT: 1
ERROR: Unknown ASL command 1
CONTEXT:

This error message occured after defeating the second officer.  My character started out working for ProDuelists.  Afterwards, I left the area, got the first officer's mech as salvage (he ejected out of fear after taking a beating from me), and the game informed me that the situation in the spinner was resolved.

Sorry I don't have a save, I died later on, and in the Rougelike tradition, I deleted the save without thinking.

I like the new lancemate stuff, but it's still kind of off that your allies can offer to join you, then reject your request to join.

Also, decided to give Robotics a try, created a self-aware "animal" spider-bot with mecha skills but is incapable of piloting mechs, and is unable to be deconstructed.  That might need to be looked at.

Neither one of those things should be happening- if you could provide some more details about the lancemate, and the save file for the robot (if you have it), I'll see what's going on.

I got a fungus cleaning mission (while being wangta) and instead of one or two space worms or fungal scavengers I got full room of megaphages (50+). Sorry the savefile is in my other computer, but I'll try to get it and post more proofs about this.
EDIT: Tried with another character... I got a worm infestation, full room of them.

I can confirm the self-aware "animal" spiderbot, but am unsure how Trorbes determined that the robot had mecha skills (I suspect Trorbes had the bot "learn a new skill", and got the message "Spiderbot learned Mecha Piloting!" or something).

The bug is triggered by having a roboticist with science skill 5 create an arachnoid robot with enough part points (armor, base, power, and computer) to trigger a self-aware robot in previous versions.  One of my self-aware "animal" spiderbot was created with industrial powerpacks, gunshields, three goggle-computers, and various weapons and armor.

Speaking of bugs, I won over a lancemate at the Cavalier's Club, then took my new buddy to see my old friend at Third Square Plaza or whatever.  But, old friend wanted me to join him in fighting pirates.  I agreed to to help him, and suddenly my previous lancemate is kicked out of the team.  I leave, and am told that I can't go back in the Third Square Plaza.  Now, when trying to call my first lancemate, the game tells me that "[character] isn't in the local calling area".

The saves are going to have to wait a bit until I have a more reliable internet connection, as I'm not even on my own computer right now.  EuchreJack was correct, though, about the robots, although I only had it improve its skills when I found that out.

Another weird thing came up, though, in a different save.  I decide to join my rival in the Blades of Crihna, abandoning my old ally who had sworn revenge on him, etc.  Anyway, my next mission on Clund I was sent to find out who that rival was working for, apparently now part of some corporation or another.  Then I hit a dead end.  I'll send that information along with the rest, but is the rival supposed to switch sides like that when you do?  I should also point out that I saw some odd debug message when I joined him, presumably to do with my former ally now being my enemy.

I get really a good offer! She's the cheapest mercenary in all the L5 region.
