I haven't been around these forums of late (basically shortly after my last post here I rediscovered Dwarf Fortress...), but my interest was attracted by
last week's post on Ataraxia regarding the classic game Shadow of the Beast 2.
I actually own two Amigas, and Shadow of the Beast 1, 2, and 3. I'd agree that they are hard. 1 and 2 are tricky even with invulnerability cheats. 3 is merely Nintendo Hard -- but an invulnerability cheat would not help, since the difficulty is in two puzzles in levels 3 and 4 that are easily botched.
That video makes it look so easy, what with all the potions the player declined.
Regarding the ending that disappointed Joseph, I'd say it's not just the ending. SotB 2 was melancholy through and through. SotB 1 was a much brighter game. (Spiritually, SotB 2 is less of a sequel to SotB 1 than another company's game, Wrath of the Demon.)
