I was thinking about this some more, and realized something I should have mentioned before. GH1's combat system is heavily skewed in favor of fast mecha with lots of guns; you get one attack per tile moved, regardless of your reaction time. Stand-back-and-blast-'em tactics are at a severe disadvantage.

I do regard this as a problem, and in GH2 AFAICT it's been mostly solved. You no longer get extra attacks just from being in a fast-moving mecha. This is something that should probably be backported to GH1, but it would likely require a whole lot of rebalancing.

Sure, if you find one you can blow the head off and capture it easily; but the only place I ever fought another one was in a Main Quest battle which, for no discernible reason, didn't offer salvage.

I'm usually fighting in the arena, so maybe that's why they're so cheap >.>
