Mecha Armour acts as a place to install items and as a damage sponge. The armour gets hit before the Mech itself.

Quoting: Question

Closest that comes to mind is selling a backpack i got from location world map.....does failing to do missions give you chaotic alignment?

Failing to do missions only gets you "Wangatta" status - The opposite of renowned.

Attacking convoys on the world map causes chaotic status..So does selling stolen goods (I.E Wallets.).

Quoting: Question

I distinctly remember being able to get salvage from world map encounters before....when i went to the delivery guy he would have items from location : world map, and i could have them delivered to the town.

Salvage is perfectly legal.

Wait....i thought you said that it wasnt possible to get salvage from world map encounters?

If raiders or enemy factions attack me on the world map, and i leave the map(running away) does my renown decrease? If i accept a mission, but let the timer expire/leave the map before its finished, my renown decreases?

Nope..I never said that.

I said that you cant get salvage from "As you enter X town you see X faction" battles.

There is no time limit on missions, but yes. If you run away during a mission then your reputation gets a massive hit.

I ment time limit when you're actually in the mission.

I've never tested out if they truely do expire, but chances are that if you talk to the person in charge after a month they will still let you do it.

EDIT: Survival REALLY needs to be improved too. I can't remember a single time where survival (the skill) was useful in Gearhead.

On a rare occasion, while using survival on a dragon, you would get a dragon heart, which healed a few hit points if you ate it.

Just what everyone needs.

"On a rare occasion"

That's the problem. Survival needs some beef added to it. It has potential but it has not been reached.

When you run out of food and you are deep in dungeons, a steady supply of mystery meat can ward off hunger and save the day....  I prefer stocking up on Nutrient Pills before dungeon diving....

LOBSTER SHIELDS.
Dude. Lobster shields. Nothing better in the world. Best shield EVAH. Worth every point.

As I mentioned before, in my experience I didn't think survival was worth it. Mostly, this was because a) using in a dungeon takes time and allows monsters to gang up and b) eating mystery meat lowers moral fast. It might solve the hunger, but the low moral cripples and then I might have to backtrack to the surface anyway to buy a chocolate bar or something.

Also, it doesn't always work and I rarely get anything useful or valuable, aside from meat and the occasional gator skin (which are incredibly dangerous to fight, btw). As I recall, gator skins fetch about $1,500 or so. That's assuming your PC doesn't fail at survival, of course. I don't remember the lobster shell. But then, I don't usually learn how to use a personal-scale shield.

But perhaps others have had better experience? Do you think taking survival is worthwhile as is, or should it have been improved?

Holy monkey lord, necro.

That being said, survival doesn't do too terribly much that can be done in other ways, at the moment, that I remember. Also, there were high and low grade stoof from the same critters, so I imagine that can be expanded on for neatness/great righteousness.

Also being said, it's as moddable as everything else, so added content is easily put in.

Which is the totalality of my point and available time. Off to music I go, hohoho.

Quoting: Question

How do i sell the mecha that i found in the mines? Also, how do i figure out what my current weight/weight limit is? I thought the inventory screen would have something like 10 kg/MAX to indicate how much you are currently carrying, but no such luck.

As other people have said, you can either go to a bus station and get them to deliver it to where you are, or some merchants offer "Deliver Mecha". Some merchants will then offer "View Mecha", which lets you sell mecha and mecha equipment.

BUT:

I suggest you don't sell that mech you found. Sooner or later you will lose a mecha battle, and the mecha you are currently in will probably be destroyed. If you don't have any others, that can be devastating, since the main way to get money is winning mecha battles. Also, the shopkeepers rip you off outrageously (giving you ~$20k for a mech they sell for $200k, say) and don't keep things you sell them, so if you do sell them the extra mech, you won't be able to get it back.
